India Launches Next-Gen e-Passports With High-Security Features

India has begun issuing next-generation e-passports featuring RFID chips, encrypted biometrics, microletters and new anti-fraud safeguards. All new passports will be electronic, with full transition by 2035. The upgraded Passport Seva 2.0 system uses AI tools, facial recognition, UPI payments and improved verification to reduce forgery and speed processing.
