Assam Government Evicts Families From Forest Land
The Assam government launched an eviction drive in Goalpara district to clear alleged encroachment on 1,140 bighas (over 376 acres) of forest land. Nearly 600 families are affected by the move. Goalpara District Commissioner Prodip Timung said the operation is proceeding peacefully in the Dahikata Reserve Forest area.
