NHRC Takes Suomoto Over Serving Of 'Halal Meat' On Trains
The NHRC has accepted the suo moto over the exclusive serving of halal-certified meat in non-veg dishes by Indian Railways. Earlier, the petitioner alleged that the practice of serving only halal meat violates the human rights of Hindus and others. The NHRC issued a notice to the Chairman of the Railway Board and asked for an Action Taken Report within 2 weeks.
