Global Oil Crisis Now Far Exceeds 1973 Embargo
Today’s global oil crisis has cut about 20 million barrels per day of supply due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, compared with the roughly 4.5 million barrels removed during the 1973 oil embargo. Prices have surged above $100 a barrel and the International Energy Agency has released strategic reserves to ease shortages.
