Justice Surya Kant To Be Sworn In As 53rd CJI Today
Justice Surya Kant will be sworn in today as the 53rd Chief Justice of India, beginning a 14-month tenure. President Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath. He succeeds CJI Bhushan R. Gavai. His appointment was made under Article 124(2) of the Constitution, following CJI Gavai's recommendation for succession to the country’s highest judicial office.
