7.6 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Near Tonga
A strong 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck near Tonga in the South Pacific Ocean. The United States Geological Survey said it occurred at a depth of about 237 km and was centred around 153 km west of Neiafu. Due to its deep location, the shaking at the surface may have been less intense and widely less damaging.
