Sri Lanka Adopts 4‑Day Workweek Amid Fuel Crisis
Sri Lanka has shifted to a four‑day workweek, declaring every Wednesday a public holiday to conserve fuel amid fears of shortages triggered by disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz and the ongoing Middle East conflict. State offices, schools and universities will close midweek, while essential services operate normally, aiming to reduce commuting and fuel use.
