UP, Maharashtra Stop Accepting Aadhaar For Birth Certificates
Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have ordered departments to stop accepting Aadhaar as proof of birth, stating it is only an ID and address document. Birth certificates issued solely using Aadhaar after the 2023 amendment will be cancelled. UP also tightened action on illegal immigrants, directing districts to set up detention centres until verification.
