Does UPSC Select A State’s Director General Of Police?
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) plays a key role in the selection of the Director General of Police (DGP) for Indian states. States send a list of eligible senior IPS officers to the UPSC, which then shortlists three names based on merit and seniority. The state govt appoints the DGP from this list.
