SC Says Uniform Civil Code Best Way To Ensure Equal Rights
The Supreme Court of India said implementing a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is the most effective solution to unequal inheritance rights under Muslim personal law, especially for women, during a hearing on a petition challenging discriminatory provisions. The bench stressed that such reform should come through legislative action to avoid legal uncertainty.
