Supreme Court Rejects NCPCR Plea On Child Marriage
The Supreme Court dismissed NCPCR’s plea challenging a 2022 Punjab and Haryana High Court verdict allowing Muslim girls aged 15+ to marry under personal law. Justices Nagarathna and Mahadevan said the Commission lacked locus standi, questioning why it opposed protection granted to the couple under Article 226 of the Constitution.
