SC: Abusive Words Alone Not Obscenity Under IPC
The Supreme Court ruled that merely using abusive language, like saying “bastard” in an argument, does not by itself qualify as an obscene act under Section 294(b) of the Indian Penal Code. The court clarified that obscenity under law requires something more than offensive words, so convictions based solely on such language were set aside.
