Cabinet Approves Rs 11,718 Cr For Fully Digital Census 2027
The Union Cabinet approved Rs 11,718 crore for Census 2027, India’s first fully digital census. Rollout begins April 2026 with house listing, followed by population enumeration in February 2027. Digital tools, self-enumeration, caste data, and robust migration tracking ensure accuracy. Around 30 lakh field workers will drive the exercise and modernizing nationwide data.
