Rupee Dips As Markets Slide, Dollar Gains
The rupee closed 27 paise lower at 87.52 against the US dollar, pressured by weak domestic equity performance and a stronger greenback ahead of Fed Chair Jerome Powell’s speech. Sensex dropped 693.86 points to 81,306.85, while Nifty fell 213.65 points to 24,870.10. Foreign fund inflows and lower Brent prices offered some support.
