Privacy First: FM Says Banks Can’t Inspect Lockers
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said banks cannot monitor or record items stored in lockers, citing privacy and banking rules. Replying in the Lok Sabha, she ruled out differential insurance based on contents, stressing such scrutiny would breach regulations and violate customer confidentiality norms and trust in the banking system.
